bye bye snailmail
living in the 21st century is nothing but a blessing. now, we are showered with many different medium of communications just so that bonds can be retained and friendship will never be forgotten. with the introduction of the mighty, godly Internet, the world has never been the same.
through it, children can now play multiplayer online games. ironically, children nowadays are less active and hence, u can see "cute" children around. furthermore, u no longer see kids wishing to dear Santa Claus for UNO cards as their birthday gift. try to ask the young kids around and they will give out answers like, the X-box, Nintendo Wii, laptops and even i-phone. parents might need to spend extra thousands of bill in order to show their love and devotion for the children.
for the youngsters, it seems like mIRC or ICQ are the outdated software. i remember how i used to spend hours on the monitor screen chatting with my schoolmates in #smssa. i also used this opportunity to be popular among the chatters and i got to befriend some of the hot and goodlooking seniors. gotta admit, i came up with some crushes back then and, yea, hunting game was fun! good times, good times =)
nowadays, social group websites such as facebook and twitter seem to be the reason why youngsters get stuck on the monitor. in a way, u have less interaction going on since just by looking through the profile, a quite bunch of info can be obtained. we no longer have to use this command; a/s/l. haha
few days back, i was surprised to see my friend request list in facebook. my my, it was my nisha's baby sister; shameera. she is only 9 and lookie, lookie. she has a freaking facebook! at other times, i cant help but to giggle when i add some of my middle school teachers who might be of around my mom's age. wat an amazing craze.
nevertheless, i consider myself as a lucky individual. i was once a dedicated user of snailmail, having penpals from malaysia and now, i change into relying the Internet for that purpose. i kinda miss the excitement of having to go to the post office, queueing for stamps and waiting for the postman to bring me the reply. i used to live few blocks away from the post office and i gotta say, i even made friends with the workers there. now, i even find it hard to find the nearest post office and know the release date of the latest stamp collection. *i have more than 2000 stamps collection. hehe
with the introduction of 3G, i know the internet can now be accessible almost everywhere. im excited to see what's the future has in store for us all, who live and breathe with the powerful internet connection.

it only takes a day
yea yea. today, is 26th June, 2009.
the whole world is already informed of the death of the legendary icon, Michael Jackson who died at the age of 50 due to cardiac arrest. i can't really explain the reasoning behind that. im not aware that he has some systemic diseases other than the skin issues. he had been a strong individual, facing all the lawsuits against him. at times, his personality brought us to question his insanity but in the end, we can never find someone as creative and dedicated as him in this pop music industry.
other than that, i watched Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen today with Maz. Oh yea! it's another must see movie for 2009. went to Qlap Mall and bought the 12.30pm show. there were only bout 10 of us in the cinema. i prefer to go there instead of the busy the Mall Cineplex. furthermore, parking is a not hastle over there.
i still have about 2 weeks more before the holiday ends. =( dis is not good. it is still too early for a goodbye. furthermore, not much of my friends are around.
besides taht, H1N1 seems to be on the rise with days. brunei has about 20 cases so far. malaysia meanwhile has bout 100 more. what makes it difficult is because it is summer break for those in europe. people are migrating for holidays as well as to prepare for uni intake. may we get to contain them soon so taht i can enter the hospitals in 4th year without much issue. hehe

the yesteryear
i stumbled upon my friend's facebook pictures. it took her a LONG while to post up the pictures of our extravaganza YM2 carnival which was held last year in Shah Alam. it was our 2nd year project anyway. i am sure that all of us (or SOME) cannot simply forget the night where unity and teamwork were successfully demonstrated. i am proud to a part of them.
nevertheless, something hit me like a struck of lightning. what do u think it is my dear bloggie?
yea, my insecurity.
-.-;;
somehow, my guy did something dat day. I THINK. i wasnt sure whether he did it but, my gut kinda said so. one thing he was with this one particular guy that i dont really fancy. i dun wanna ask coz, yea, i'd rather not knowing the truth instead of to make me feel like uttercrap shit in the end. blearghhh... talking about this is enough to make me produce those gastric juices. talking about stress here! hehe
but hey, dis is where bloggie comes handy. i can let this feeling out. i can spill things out in here. i dont hve to talk or share everything to that one person that matters in my life. i dont know how long should i keep this blog in secret from him. maybe one day, he will but for the time being, let's just make this between you and me. =)

please don't stop the music
im only 21. but somehow i dig the evergreen classic oldies tunes. perhaps my parents play a role in influencing me with such interest. maybe they used to lullaby me with these kinda songs back then. nevertheless, i appreciate and enjoy these songs. you gotta admit the melodious and harmonious sound that they bring. whenever you are in stress or in the middle of revision, i highly recommend you to tune in to these kinda tunes rather than digging on the current screamo beat.
let me take you back to about 10 years ago. i used to be those die hard fan of r'n'b, hip hop and rap. through rap, i could learn a lot simply just by reading its lyrics. that was how i could understand the gangsta's slangs. other than that, there were also history lessons in it. some of the rappers would mention icons such as che guevara and malcolm X. my curiosity would grow and hence, causing me to google on them. besides that, what i like about the lyrics was the expression that it brings. during my stressed out moments, i would try to challenge myself to memorise them and would make me feel better after that. yea, i love memory challenge. hehe
i am not sure why but somehow current trend of music does not interest me that much. i would rather go youtubing and search for the past hits. i cant imagine though how it would be when i am 60 years old and listening to backstreet boys in the future. i must be very cute! :p
ever since i was young, music was like my bestfriend. there was once when i dreamed of being a radio deejay. i wanted to play my favourite songs and give other people the chance to enjoy them. i was also frustrated with some djs for not being able to diversify their playbacks. they liked to air on the same songs all over again. i guess that is why the current hitsongs can irritate me easily. come on Mr Dj! do your role as an entertainer! there are millions of good songs around. so, be creative with your choice!
ok. buzzing out! chiaw

book review 1

it's amazing on how i finally managed to finish reading a book this year. yea, i havent said that for quite some time now. since it is my 1 month break, ive decided to occupy the time by reading. in addition, it is one of the ways for me to improve my ever deteriorating English usage.
so, thanks to my sis's collection, i decided to give "JODI PICOULT - handle with care" a try. how irony, it was medically-related. seems like i can never run away from this field. anyway, the story is about a girl, named Willow who was diagnosed to have Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). OI is a condition where there is a defect in proper bone development which also results in lack of collagen formation. thus, u are as fragile as brittle glass.
life wasnt easy for her due to her condition. this was also towards her family. so, the mother decided to take a lawsuit against the former obstetrician who also happened to be the mother's bestfriend. OH OW!!
so, what i can learn from this book were :
1. never take your friend as your patient
2. take a malpractise insurance.. (err.. dunno what the heck issit.. but it provides some kind of protection)
3. always be cautious and alert when using the ultrasound
4. please refer to your specialist once you discover an abnormality that you are not sure of
honestly, i was quite surprised with the ending. didnt expect it that way. but overall, i'll say this book is worth your time. i truly recommend this to anyone who is involved with health care sector especially to the future obstetricians. it gives you a slight sneak on how negligence could lead to many possible positive as well as negative consequences. so, please, please be careful.
ok. book 1 is down. will try to finish Men are from Mars, Women are from Venuses. double thumbs up book to those who want to understand relationships as well as your partner!
PS : oh, i wanna thank my sis for her jodi picoult collection.

blood ties
stumbled upon my sis's blog today.
i did not expect anyone else in my family to come out with blogpage though. but oh well, we're living in a modern world afterall. where else can u spill out your emotions comfortably other than this non-living bestfriend of ours; the blog site.
i have to admit, her english vocabs are way better than mine. furthermore, she is more daring in expressing her feelings and thoughts. well done my sis. i really think u shud do law instead. haha
well, it's monday here in brunei. ive just received my 1st email from my boifriend who is far away in prague today. (or was it yday?.. this time difference is a bit confusing for me.. hehe) he sent me pictures and yeap, he made me happy for the day.
im trying to call up kak liza to find out my year 3 results. so far, the call is not being answered. probably she's avoiding this call. or perhaps, she's already on her way back home. though it's only 4.30 pm now. typical worker's attitude.
ok then, tat's all for now. i like to keep my blog sweet and simple as possible. chiaw!!

kingdom of unexpected treasures...
well, it has only been day 4 in brunei. but honestly, im slowly to feel bored. seems like there is no place that i can think of to hang out in.
let's see... the mall? nothing much there. nothing can beat the mega sale in Msia. even the choice of good is far to off from those in KL. i think brunei needs more branded stuffs in. maybe something like padini store, MNG? come to think of it, even kenny rogers couldnt make it in brunei market. and let alone all these other stores? hehe
i think the place would be better off if i have my boyfriend here with me. at least i have one thing to keep me entertain. hehe the question is, would he be wanting to drop in brunei? even if he did, then i bet he would be whining and nagging already in day 2.
nevertheless, brunei is still my home. this is the country that i have poured my effort and heart all out. i have spent about 15 years here; the longest place that i have ever been in. i seem to have more networks here more than those back in KL.
will i be following my dad's footsteps one day? will i be settling down in brunei eventually? hehe
in a way, please let me be elsewhere other than in brunei. wat about UK? hahaha

another chapter of life
2009 seems to be the year of marriage. ive seen some of my friends ended up walking down the aisle. thank God, most of them are older than me. at least i don't have much of pressure to follow the trend.
honestly, i envy them couple. i know, marriage is not a simple thing to handle. one has to be more than 100% certain and convinced that they have found someone that they prefer to spend their lifetime with. one has to be ready to compromise as well as accepting that someone into their lives. not forgetting to mention the spouse's other half; the family.
nevertheless, the whole process of marriage seems very interesting. i like to see the wedding pictures. u can see the happiness and love when their eyes meet. u can also feel the energy created between the two individuals. aaah.. how special that is. i can't wait for my turn and i hope i get the right guy for me. AMIN!
though it's only one lil word, the meaning of "marriage" seems to be a lot more complicated than it seems. there are no other insane people than those who are in love who would rather to have that chosen one to share their next 50 years with. come to think of it, ive only been with my current partner for more than 2 years but there have been a lotta dramas already. so, u can expect what else can occur in the next 48 years.
well, at the moment, im only 21. i still kinda have a long way to go. nevertheless, i gotta put in effort so that all the life's plans work as they are meant to be. im wishing for a never-ending marriage as well as to be living with someone who is willing to love and care for me till my dying day.

lonely heart
to some holiday is one of the things that they anticipate the most. after tireless and sleepless nights, we all deserve some breaks in order to restructure our life. for once, we can have a time off from the hectic and mind-blowing tasks. we can grab this opportunity to have a self-reflection as well as to catch a view on the global issues. time to update myself to reality. hehe
nevertheless, for those who have partners, holiday is not a thing that they look forward to. the thoughts of not having your other half around does not seem to encourage u to face the day. how weird, u wish the holiday to soon be over. but yet, u will later complain on the limited days of holiday. how irony.
it's true though. holiday means long-distance relationship. but at least, im glad that we are no longer living in the snail mail era where it takes more than a day just to hear out from that special someone. with the technology of the mighty INTERNET, the medium helps along in keeping the ball rolling. through it, we can use emails, messengers as well as webcams.. communication has never been that easy..
but yet, there are some who do not utilise the inventions to its full capabilities. hence, leaving the other half to be feeling empty and sober. one would wonder the whereabouts of his beloved one. one would also be thinking of the reasoning behind the disappearance acts.
is it very difficult and troublesome just to type in simple messages to that special someone?
is it too much to ask for a simple hello and goodbye kiss to complete the day?
am i selfish to be asking for thoughts and undivided attention?
oh technology, how i wish u never exist in the first place.

procrastinating...
i guess i still haven't learned the consequences of procrastination.
i have tonnes on my to-do-list but here i am, facebooking and blogging.
i think we should create a software where we have time limits for facebook.
and how i sometimes wish my laptop would freeze for some moments especially during this exam week.
how i wish i can fight distractions easily.
these are the typical symptoms of students during the exam period. too bad, there are no jabs to eradicate this =(
